If you’ve come across a  tall young man with full afro holding one of those huge professional cameras that make your camera look like child’s play, then you’ve probably met the awesome photographer behind TCD photography who calls himself Tobbie Maguire.

It is no news that his works are amazing so we decided to have a chat with this talented styljunki member

Hello Tobbie,

What is your full name?

Imole Oluwatobiloba Balogun

Imole Balogun Of TCD Photography

How old are you?

I’m old enough. :D

LOL. Okay, We are done with the bio questions, now unto the stuff that we really want to know ;when did you start to take photographs commercially?

I started approximately 3 years ago.

Do you do this as a full time job? If no, what other job do you do and how are you able to balance both jobs?

Yes I do photography as a full-time job.  It requires a lot of dedication and in order to really enjoy it, you need to give it your all.

Photography is not a conventional career choice around here, what are some of the challenges you have faced since you chose this career.

Challenges range from logistics to power cuts, fuel hikes… and I think I’m becoming a bit anti-social, I spend most of my time working.

Check our fashion events page and go for all the events there, that might help. *wide grin*

Anyways, a couple of people on here want to know what inspires you. We know most people answer “God” to this question, but we want specifics lol

Everything Inspires me :D , People, the environment, the daily Nigerian life and so on.

What does TCD stand for?

Think.Create.Destroy!

Oh wow! and how old is TCD?

TCD is 4 years old. Started out in London as a Design/Web development outfit and later got the company registered in Nigeria in 2010

We have to say, you have taken some popular photographs, which one of them is your favorite?

The Sprite Advert campaign

Our friend Tylr once said that If he was a photographer, he’ll kill to do a shoot with Rosie Huntington, but that’s just him, which celebrity (Nigerian/International) would you Love to take pictures of?

Barack Obama is on my hit list

What would you say is the greatest achievement for TCD PHOTOGRAPHY?

Honestly, we don’t have a “ Greatest Achievement “ yet. We are still a growing company. But we look forward to achieving a lot.

We always ask people where they want to see their brand in the future. Where do you see TCD in 5 years?

In 5 years, I see TCD becoming a bigger and more recognizable brand.

Let’s all say a big AMEN to that :) .

Given your experience, what would you say are the elements of a good fashion shoot?

A good team perhaps. Everything would have to be in order.Right from the Makeup Artist to the shoot location, Styling/Stylist, the Model and most especially the person behind the camera.

What do you think about Photoshop? What role do you think it plays in today’s photography?

I see Photoshop as a very important tool. And in the right hands it can make magic. It plays a big role in today’s photography, most especially in the beauty sector.

If you had all the money in the world and you had to pick a career, would you pick photography? (And what are your reasons?)

If I had all the money in the world, I’d probably still pick photography. I’d be busy compiling pictures from all the places I travel to as I explore the world.

What is your advice to someone who wants to be a photographer especially in Nigeria.

Learn all you can about photography, from the technicalities to the business part of it. If necessary, get an experienced photographer to mentor you and show you the paths.

Finally, some bloggers go to Marquee to unwind, where do photographers go to? Lol

Lool, hold on let me go and ask them..i’ll be back

Lol.. We are waiting!! *straight face*
