DREAM WEDDING II

I’m sure you already know that Mai Atafo’s Dream Wedding II event which basically showcases his latest ‘Weddings by MAI’ Collection was last Thursday.

The celebrity models walked down the aisle happily and sure took to Instagram to show off their brides and grooms for the night.

Here’s a group picture of BankyW, Praiz, Gbenro, Waje and Yvonne Nelson at the event.

Eku Edewor looked fabulous as a bride. She even looked more fabulous in the arms of Lynxx (Mr. Sexy) who apparently was her groom for the evening. Don’t they look adorable together?

The beautiful Ghanian actress Yvonne Nelson was also happy to showoff her groom for the evening,  EME Boss, Banky W. Wonderful couple, but Lynxx and Eku Edewor still have my vote for couple of the night though. She was looking fabulous in a purple wedding dress while Banky W was looking dapper in a black tuxedo and a black bow tie. Here’s an extra pic with Lynxx.

STYLISH DJS

Gone are the days when DJs were just behind the scenes. Some of our prominent DJs look fabulous backstage and on stage. Chek them out.

DJ Caise shared this picture of himself at a recent interview. Love the way he perfectly combines his denim jacket and camouflage pants.

DJ Xclusive isn’t left out. He’s looking rather hot (as always) in this tuxedo at an event.  Heard he’s shot the video of his first single ‘No Time’ feat. MayD, label mate Skales and Tillaman. We’re sure he’d be looking fab in that too.

PAISLEY PRINT

DJ Xclusive’s label mate Wizkid shared this picture of himself looking clueless in the kitchen. He looks good in a nice T-Shirt with pasiely print details on the breast pocket and on the back. He’s also has a grey and green RVCA VA Starter Hat on. Nice!

Embracing paisley print is also his label mate Skales. I am not exactly a fan of this look cos it looks a little too much. Skales seems to go for “daring” outfits recently. This picture reminds me of a giant bandana. Not a fan. What do you think?

Davido (O.B.O) is currently on tour in Europe. He’s touring about 7 countries. It’s good to know he also has time to chill. Here’s a picture of him chilling with a pretty lady wearing a paisely print T-Shirt in red. 

CASUAL LADIES

Looking very casual and comfortable is Tiwa Savage in Yomi Casual (AY Makun’s brother’s outfit). She’s wearing a long simple black kaftan like gown with just the badge as the detail.Seems perfect for an evening stroll, don’t you think?

Genevieve Nnaji seems to pull of Yellow so well as it always works for her (remembering the AMVCA look in the Yellow April by Kunbi dress). Here, she’s casually dressed in a yellow dress, white sandals, blue bag and some shades. I’m not particularly fond of her sandals but what do you think? 

The host for Africa’s Next Top Model, Oluchi Orlandi looks fabulous in this pair of red Deola Sagoe denim pants which seem to fit really well. She does know how to strike a pose even when she’s not on the runway or at a shoot. Guess that comes with being a professional model. 

SUMMER TIME READY

Showing off her summer time body is Lola Rae wearing a white one piece swimsuit.  Picking the right swimsuit for your body type is super important so do you think Lola Rae nails it with her choice of swimsuit? She’s also looking good in a black dress, nude shoes and a statement necklace.

HAIR DO

The nollywood actress, Susan Peters has had a hair revamp.She scores points for making a statement with this Janelle Monae inspired hair. However, I’ll leave you to decide if you love it or not.

OAPs

On the set of Ndani TV’s The Juice recently was the host Toolz and guest Seyi Shay. Toolz is looking very faboulous in a blue and lilac print wrap dress by Ejiro Amos Tafiri (win an Ejiro Amos Tafiri dress here). The beautiful fast rising Nigerian singer, Seyi Shay looks faboulous in a sleeveless short baroque print dress. They both played around the same colours that made the interview beautiful to watch. Toke Makinwa looks stunning on set in this blue bandage dress. She wears blue single strap pointed shoes to match. Jewelry would have been too much with this outfit so she has opted for no jewelry. 

She also shares a fab pic of herself, Darey Art Alade, the beautiful Osas Ighodaro and her stylist Swanky Jerry (her stylist) on set for the campaign shoot for Lipton Tea as they are now Lipton Ambassadors (excluding the Stylist). Lovely. I have actually seen that lovely yellow dress Osas Ighodaro is wearing on Genevieve Nnaji (I’ll save that story for another day, probably a ‘WHO WORE IT BETTER’ episode or something).

Studio 53 Extra’s Dolapo Oni looks really nice in this red lace dress and red shoes. She has chosen gold jewelry and red lipstick to accessorize. She looks very cute, especially with the pout. She was styled by celebrity stylist Veronica Ebie-Odeka of Vane Style which explains the perfect look.

June 8^th 2013, was another major proud moment for the Nigerian Fashion Industry, as Nancy Nwadire, Creative Designer of Luxury Label, Iconic Invanity was honored with the Best Brand Award at the Mediterranean Design and Fashion Week (MADEINMEDI) in Noto (Sicily), Italy. The award was presented by the Mayor of Noto (UNESCO world heritage), Mr. Corrado Bonfanti.

Iconic Invanity showed its A/W13 collection at the show to tumultuous applause and overwhelming positive feedback. The designer, Nancy Nwadire had this to say about the experience.

“I feel honored, humbled and grateful. The organizers of the event and the people of Noto are really nice, they made us feel welcome and at home.  I feel most especially honored to be recognized by the Italians, who in my eyes are the “gurus” of fashion. I am grateful and thankful to all who have been involved in the journey of the Iconic Invanity brand”.

I remember the first time I saw Iconic Invanity pieces. It was at Arise Fashion Week 2012 and it was love at first sight. It’s great to see how much the brand has grown since then.

The press conference began with the lovely people at Intercontinental hotel stating that the hotel is an official sponsor for the event. This means that the hotel will serve as a home for the gorgeous finalists and the grand finale will take place there as well.

The 36 finalists will feature in a two-week reality TV show titled ‘THE MAKING OF A QUEEN”.

THE MAKING OF THE QUEEN will see the 36 contestants undergo grooming and preparation for the role of Miss Nigeria. The finalists will perform different tasks , there will be nominations based on their performances at each task and eliminations. After this period, only 21 ladies will be left who will then go on to compete for the Miss Nigeria crown at the Grand finale where a winner will be chosen based on elegance, poise, talent, intelligence and beauty.

According to Mrs Elohor Aisien, the winner of Miss Nigeria will take home a cash prize of 3million naira, a car, a trip to Carlifornia sponsored by MUD Cosmetics, paid trips to any part of the country sponsored by Aero contractors amongst other prizes from various sponsors.

Recently spotted at her vacation in Anguilla showing off her bikini body is Angela Simmons (daughter of legendary rap artist and pioneer Reverend Run of Run-DMC). She was spotted rocking high waisted bikinis by Nigerian design label and one of our fab members, Andrea Iyamah Swimwear.

Totally love both bikinis. Love the cuts , the print and the fact that they are high waisted.

Sometimes, I think I was meant to be a boy. I love to feel all masculine with myself. Sometimes, I ditch the catwalk and strut like a dude on the road. I find tomboys exciting, In this context, I’m referring to  females who blur the line between masculine and feminine outfits; inclining towards styles or trends that have originally been associated with men.

The hottest thing about it is that it’s slightly androgynous, like neither here nor there and the result is an effortlessly sexy look. Yes, I said sexy!
I’ve been this way for a while, as a matter of fact I’ve been into the tomboy look as far back as I can recall.
I give away myself in my outfits every now and then ; Pocket square and Bow ties, fedora hats, buttoned up shirts with high waisted denim pants, brogues, suspenders, tailored shorts and pants, waist coat and blazers even  sneakers and boots , depending on how I’m feeling.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for feeling girly and sexy. I like high heels and short dresses showing off my endless legs, it’s safe to say they are endless, X_X . But I wouldn’t exactly call myself “a girly girl” I’ve never been one to bother about makeup, Hair, nail polishing, lotions and all the other stuff girls go on about.

I guess that’s why I really love the “tomboy style”, it reflects who I am in a way.

I like to feel very comfortable and still look good. Left to me, I’ll show up in denim pants, T-shirts and a blazer (by the way, I’m talking loose fitting shirts) and most likely boots for the rest of my life.

The TomBoy style depicts an Inherent sense of confidence, rebelliousness and confidence.
