Tylr’s Thoughts: How To Shop On A Budget And Still Look Photo Shoot Fresh

I woke up to a Russian Model and  all kinds of Fillets for breakfast…… Sigh , My bad ,that’s stuff for another platform. Apologies, I’m a busy person , I tend to mix these things up. Without further delay, today I would be discussing a serious issue , one that affects both Goose and Gander alike. Unfortunately, the only thing I know about female clothes is how to take them off, so I would be focusing on the male species (No Homo). Before I proceed further, it is important to state 3 things clearly . These three things form the foundation of this post, you would do well to commit them to heart as they are in your best interest ( do otherwise, at the peril of your own pocket  :|)

1. The good work that we do on this site provides you with a substantial amount of  Topnotch designers , cutting across all kinds of clothes. The next time you are on the verge of parting with lofty sums of money for pieces of clothing in huge shops, kindly pause  for a bit and see if the Geniuses on this platform cannot meet your needs for fewer notes of Naira

2. If you live in Nigeria, it is important to realize that ASOS is your best friend; She’s a companion invented  overseas by intelligent white people and delivered to you through a screen to meet your clothing needs at a trivial cost.

3. Finally, if you are a Student and you Live outside Nigeria, you must understand that the H&M store was invented for you to attain coolness at  your Student’s budget. Failure to realize this would result in series of repeated Fasts, trust me , I know this.

ASOS Clubmaster Sunglasses, cost only 8 GBP

I would be discussing two Top notch outfits and their cheaper alternatives .

Linen Oxford Shirts and Print Shorts/Pants

The hallmark of this outfit is the Linen Oxford Shirt by Ralph Lauren

The dopest casual look to pull off  (in the midst of all these people who have refused to Keep calm) ; would include a Linen oxford shirt ;Polo by Ralph Lauren (needless to mention). Print Shorts or Pants from Zara, Slippers from Gucci  or something evil like that , a Trilby from Ted Baker and finally a pair of Aviators from Ray-ban. Personally, I think anything doper than this would just be cheating.

That outfit would set you back by at least 40k. On the other hand the alternatives below are not so costly;

  •  Replace the Linen Polo with a cheaper Linen oxford shirt from H&M, If you live in Nigeria,  you would find very cheap offers on ASOS, and they deliver to your doorstep.
  • Instead of Print Pants from Zara, you can buy the full Ankara Fabric from Daviva and get a tailor, still cheaper. Alternatively contact Orange Culture to hook you up, thank me later.
  • Lose the Raybans, cop the cheaper alternative from ASOS (It’s nobody’s business). Lose the slippers , contact TTdalk to hook you up.

Ethnic Printed Pants by Orange Culture

Classic Blazer , Chinos and Loafers/Brogues

The Classic Blazer and Chinos Outfit as brought to us by GQ (this is the SI  unit of measurement )

This is one outfit many people manage to screw up, I ought to go around fining these men or something. Anyways, the standard is a grey blazer(Or Navy Blue) probably from one of those Italian Houses. Straight Chinos Pants (Personally, I recommend Calvin Klein’s) and Loafers (Italians are the best at this too).

The blazer alone in this outfit would cost you at least 30k, I am saving your life here, Sigh.

  •  Once again, ASOS would save your life. The only trick is , you must know your exact size in life as you do not want to buy an undersized jacket. The most important thing about buying a jacket on a budget is to be humble, avoid stripes, badges and funny cuts. It’s safer to keep it very simple. Finally, check this  Site for Local designers who can help you
  • You can’t really cheat with shoes, just stick to mid level brands like River Island and Burton, they can all be found on ASOS . Make sure they are brown or ermm blue, Penny Loafers are in your best interest

Finally,  If you have to buy a watch and you want to double this watch as your Corporate and Casual watch (basically it’s your only watch in life) . Instead of coppin all those counterfeit versions of the real thing I see everybody wearing these days, I suggest you just buy a Classic Casio, the plastic One . They are durable, authentic and they make a decent fashion statement. People would think you are on your Theophilus London Swag (He invented Retro:|) , works for me though, then again that’s just me X_X

That would be all for today. As always, stay fresh..

Get The Look: Yvonne Nelson’s Forever 21 Chiffon Daisy Shirt, Blue Pants & Nude Pointed Shoes

Ghanian actress, Yvonne Nelson looks beautiful on and off screen, even in this recent photo she shared where she’s keeping it simple and casual.

*Click on the images to view where each item can be purchased.*

She’s wearing a $19.80 Forever 21 Chambray Chiffon Daisy Shirt which boasts of some denim details around the collar, shoulders, front placket and cuffs. If you’re looking to purchase this shirt, head over to Forever 21.

Similar pants to what she has on is this Blue Sardinian Cotton Skinny Winston Pants  from the brand, ‘CLOSED‘. They cost about  159 €.

Yvonne has lovely Nude shoes on. I don’t know the brand she’s wearing but I found these amazing pair of  Rupert Sanderson Elba High Heel Pumps in Nude Patent shoes. Totally love them!!

If you’ve been at least an average follower of fashion trends, then you’d agree with me that Micheal Kors’ watches need no introduction. I’d finish up the look with this Michael Kors MK5725 Silver Chronograph Watch, which cost about £229.00.

There you have it. The complete look. And just like Yvonne, you should always wear a smile. It’s the cheapest and most intriguing of the entire look.

The members of the ‘Cool People Association’ (primarily social media cool kids) have over emphasized how uncool it is to take bathroom pictures in 2013. However, if you’re half as pretty and hot (*fans self*) as Yvonne Nelson, you can just about take your pictures wherever you damn well please. Especially, if you’re looking this good with subtle makeup on.

Stay fresh or don’t stay at all.

Tylr’s Thoughts: Body of Work

I could never be a designer, ‘cos I’ll just go OCD on the whole collection ,blame it on my intricate nature. I’ll tell you something I can do though. I can  woo a lot of girls, as long as they listen. I know what to say, at least I like to think I know what to say, that would explain why these posts are not half bad right? anyways, you don’t have to admit to me, admitting to yourself is good enough.

I could never be a stylist, ‘cos I don’t think I could help a person express their feelings for money . It sounds like cheating to me, Okay not really. I just think self expression should be done by the self in question you dig ?  Then again, I have many thoughts.

I like to think of my Life as a body of work (Kinda like the same way I like to see myself as a wooer of many girls) . I don’t sleep much, and even when I do, I’m still scheming . I have forgotten better stuff than most of the stuff  people in my age group have  been able to dream of ( That wasn’t me paraphrasing Yeezy) . In Summary, in the hands of an emotionally stable Hank Moody, my life is a best seller, and I’m barely Three decades old.

I can’t be a designer, and I can’t be a stylist, as highlighted in previous premises. The least I can do is dress the part right ? to make up for my shortcomings. We built this platform so we can express ourselves remorselessly . Each piece of clothing is like paint on a brush, I put it on and it adds color to the Masterpiece, or ermm Body of work since that is what I have decided to call this post.

I like to wear CK Him, cos once, this girl wrapped her legs around me , not before she soaked in the fragrance though  . Sometimes  I switch the Cologne for Black Orchid ,’cos I’m a problem and I’m not leaving the scene in a hurry. I show up in a grey double breasted jacket, cos all this new school stuff is confusing to me , I’m conservative and old fashioned. I fold my sleeves  just once , just enough for you to sense my irreverence . I’m nonchalant, and  hardworking at the same time and I always wear a pocket square (always). You are looking at a Body of work, a Best seller (we’ll discuss my shoes another day, as soon as I cop the Berluti’s I’m praying to God for )

I have put forward my case, the moral justification for my excessive indulgence in clothes and brands and shoes (not mentioned in this post :| ). I have also tried to justify why I look better than most people. I have built a case, even though it is slightly centered around me. What’s your story? do you even tell one with your outfits? or you are one of those people who think style isn’t a big deal? . If you are I can’t be seen in public with you (surely you can understand right?)

I apologize for the egocentricity of this post… Wait a minute, I’ll take that back, my apology I mean. I don’t have too many, so I’ll save it for another time

Stay Fresh, or don’t Stay at all -Tylr

Make-Up Tips’n’Tricks: The Right Way To Wear A Bronzer

I get asked a lot of questions by makeup novices regarding what exactly a bronzer is, what it does and why it is needed. Personally, I can do without it especially since I use regular powders to contour my face. For that sun bronzed, tanned look, a bronzer is super necessary.

The main issue with bronzers is that a lot of people tend to wear them the wrong way thus making it look like bronzers are just wrong. Like everything else in life, there is a technique which needs to be learnt.

The basic step to getting a bronzer right is to apply it in the shape of the number “3″ on the left side of the face and the letter “E” on the right side of the face i.e. The forehead, under the cheek bones and the temple. That means that the placement is focused on the side of the face.

One thing to remember is that bronzer placement is to be where the sun would normally rest on your face. Whatever else you do, don’t forget that.

Oh, and your neck too. Sweep bronzer on your neck bones too. We don’t want a dark face and pale neck.

*Extra tip: A matte bronzer is superb for contouring the face and nose. Just make sure the undertones match your skin perfectly.

Stay Beautiful,

Are you a fan of rubber boots? The Mavin Records’ first lady recently posted a picture of herself on Instagram wearing these Louis Vuitton Splash High Boots In Rubber which costs about $400.

From Versace To Dolce & Gabbana, Find Out Various Ways To Pull Off The Baroque Print

L – R Beyonce, Kelis, Pink and Solange in Baroque Inspired Looks

I’ll start with a little history lesson. The Baroque style began around 1600 in Rome, Italy and spread to most of Europe within the same century. That’s all. Now back to fashion…

Sometime in the second half of 2011, Versace had an entire lookbook for H&M that practically celebrated the Baroque Print in it’s beauty.

Versace for H&M Lookbook 2011

Later that year, the hip-hop duo ‘The Throne’ (comprising of Jay Z and the fashion icon Kanye West) incorporated the Baroque Art in the design of the album cover for their first album ‘Watch The Throne’. The album cover was designed by renowned designer Riccardo Tisci who was once the creative director of the Haute Couture, ready-to-wear and accessories lines for Givenchy.

French fashion house Balmain, and Italian luxury industry fashion house Dolce & Gabbana had some Baroque inspired looks in their Fall 2012-2013 Collections.

L – R Balmain, Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2012-2013

From sunglasses, to jewelry, to shoes and all the way to album covers, its safe to say the baroque trend isn’t restricted to clothing. I personally consider them to be rich and timeless. You’d agree with me that a few pieces in your wardrobe will be perfect considering they won’t go out of style (and even if they do, I bet you they’ll be back in another year or so).

The rich colours and style of the baroque print, can be combined to pull off various looks, especially vintage and classy looks. The pictures here might ignite your fashion consciousness in the right direction.

Enjoy !! [click to open and enlarge image]

Baroque on baroque can be a little hard to pull off. I’ll advice that you stick to one baroque print item per look so no one is walking around looking like all confused.  However, for daring and fashion forward styljunkies, here’s a cool way to pull it off.

What We Crave : Guiseppe Zanotti’s White Crocodile Print High Top Sneakers

”Guiseppe Zanotti here, Guiseppe Zanotti there, Guiseppe Zanotti everywhere”, used to be my initial thought till I fell in love with this breath taking pair of perfection. It takes  just one product to draw me to a brand, and this did it for me.

The ”crocodile print high-top sneakers in all white, embellished with gold colored hardware and side zips”  has been a statement of style lately. Endorsed by style icons like Kanye West and D’Banj, it’s definitely a must have.

You can cop one of these for $875.00 here. If you eventually get one, please let me know. And don’t forget to send me your name and address with it so I’d plot my perfect robbery. :)

Stay fresh or Don’t stay at all.

Make-Up Tips’n’Tricks: How To Highlight Your Face

The art of highlighting is a very delicate process. It involves bringing forward some parts of the face thereby creating planes and contours.  Too much grammar, why don’t I just show you what highlighting alone can do for the face.

It gives the face a three dimensional feel and glow thus making it fuller and definitely more attractive.

Ways to highlight, where to highlight and what to highlight with???  Here goes:

Ways To Highlight – there are different ways you can highlight the face. You can apply it directly to the skin before makeup is done, mixed with moisturizer or even foundation and even after makeup application.

Where To Highlight – the easiest way to know where to highlight is to stand outside on a bright day, face the direction of the sun and check where the light hits. You will notice that these are the specific areas middle of the forehead, eyebrow bone, bridge of the nose, upper cheek bones, cupid’s bow of the lips and jaw.

What To Highlight With – you can use either crème, liquid or powder products. I personally use powder products because I highlight when I am done but cream or liquid products are usually the best as they are absorbed into the skin and so do not look unnatural. Powder products however need to be blended very well but still, in some cases, sit on the skin and still look a bit unnatural especially when the shimmer granules are large.

Be sure to try highlighting your face sometime and see the difference that will make.

*Extra tip – a simple trick to open up the eyes is to apply a highlighting product in the inner tear duct area of the eye. A white shimmer product will also do though.
